Kube, (Nasarawa State), April 13, 2018 (NAN) Mr Christopher Jatau, the Uehra Ashea of Kube Chiefdom in Nasarawa State, has urged parents and guardians to ensure good education for their female children.
Jatau made the call on Friday while speaking in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), in his palace at Kube, Panda Development Area of the state.
The second class traditional ruler said that education was the bedrock of every society.
He said that if early education for the girl-child was embraced, issues of early marriage and other social vices would be checked.
“The development of any society is dependent on the quality of education that is given to its children especially to the girl child.
“If adequate education is being given to the female children, it will go a long way in curbing early marriages as well as fighting other social vices among children in the society.
“It is the lee-way to success in life and a route to escape from poverty box.
“It is in view of this that I want to use this medium to appeal to our youths to carry on with their educational pursuit with the seriousness it deserves,’’ he said.
Jatau also called on parents to encourage their children to acquire skills, in order to become self-reliant.
“Parents should also encourage their children to be handworking so as to become self reliant and to contribute their quota to the development of the society.
“Embracing skill acquisition by Nigerians would also go a long way in reducing high rate of unemployment, youths restiveness as well as boost the socio-economic development of the country,” he added. (NAN)
