Lagos, March 17, 2017  (NAN) A petty trader, Zainab Shodeinde, 35, on Friday pleaded with an Agege Customary Court in Lagos to dissolve her marriage because of  battery and threat to her life.

Zainab, who lives at No.18, Olorishade St., Sango in Ogun, alleged that her husband of seven years was irresponsible and troublesome.

She told court that she was tired of living in the man’s mother’s house.

“He is not responsible. He does not take care of me and our two children.

“He keeps threatening to throw me out of the house. l want the marriage dissolved.”

According to her, whenever she demands feeding allowance from her husband, it usually leads to beating.

She said she had to pack out of the house when the beating became unbearable.

The husband, Ibrahim Shodeinde, a middle-aged tricycle operator of No. 13, Olatunde Okebola St., Agege, near Lagos, denied the allegations, pleading with court not to dissolve the union.

He claimed that he was doing his best to provide for his wife and children, describing Zainab as stubborn.

Ibrahim said that Zainab was not respecting him and was always keeping malice with him.

“Whenever we had disagreement at home, she refuses to talk to me and elongate matters even after pleading,’’ he stated.

The President of the court, Mr Phillips Williams, fixed April 11 for further hearing. (NAN)
