Trader in court for allegedly stabbing neighbour with broken bottle

Lagos, July 19, 2017 (NAN) A 25-year-old trader, Anastasia Iwueke, who allegedly stabbed her neighbour, one Faith Maha with a broken bottle, was on Wednesday arraigned in an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.
Iwueke, who resides at No. 5 Mayaka St., Mangoro, Lagos, is facing a three-count charge of assault, damages and breach of peace.
She, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, Insp. Victor Eruada, told the court that the accused committed the offences on July 1, at her residence.
He said the accused beat-up and used the broken bottle to stab the complainant all over her body; inflicting serious injuries on her.
Eruada said that the accused beat-up and injured the complainant because she refused to get up from a chair for her to sit down.
“In the process of beating her, the accused destroyed the complainant’s zobo drinks valued at N30, 000,” he said.
The offences contravened Sections 166, 172 and 348 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that Section 172 stipulates a three- year jail term for offenders.
The magistrate, Mrs G.O. Anifowoshe, granted the accused bail in the sum of N30, 000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case until July 28 for mention. (NAN)
