Trader docked over alleged N60, 000 fraud

Abuja, July.6, 2017(NAN) The police on Thursday arraigned one Bode Wisdom, a trader in a Wuse Zone 2 Senior Magistrates’ Court, Abuja, for allegedly swindling two persons of N60,000.
Wisdom, who resides at Apo, Abuja, is standing trial on a two-count charge of criminal conspiracy and cheating.
The prosecutor, Yohanna Moses, told the court that one Balami Simon and Esther Friday, all of Apo, Abuja, reported the matter at the Garki Police Station on June 26.
He said that the defendant and one other now at large, deceived the complainants and collected N30, 000 from each of them with the pretence of taking them to a prayer house in Maitama, Abuja.
Moses added that they were told that a prophet would pray for them to be successful in life and be protected against their enemies.
He said that the defendant failed to deliver as he promised.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened the provisions of Sections 97 and 322 of the Penal code.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Magistrate, Mohammed Tahir, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N50, 000 with a surety in like sum.
He adjourned the case until Aug. 17, for hearing.(NAN)
