Trader allegedly defrauds colleague, sells off his N2m tiles

Lagos, March 2, 2018 (NAN) Uzoma Nnodim, 42-year-old trader, who was accused of selling 500 cartons of tiles valued at
N2 million  on behalf of the owner, is facing trial at an Ebute Meta Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.

Nnodim is being tried for a two-count charge for conspiracy and stealing.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges and was given N250,000 bail.

Magistrate Kofo Ariyo, who gave the ruling, also asked the accused to produce two sureties in like sum one of
who must be a blood relation.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, ASP Clara Olagbayi told the court that the accused committed the offences on Dec. 28,
2017 at Alaba Market, Coker in Orile-Iganmu.

She alleged that the accused, who was entrusted with the sale of 500 cartons of tiles valued at N2 million, could not
give a satisfactory account of the goods or the money realised from the sales.

The offences contravened Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 287 prescribes three years imprisonment, while Section 411
provides two years for offenders.

Further hearing has been fixed for March 29. (NAN)
