Bwari (FCT), Feb. 13, 2018 (NAN) Mrs Juliana Dikko, wife of Chairman, Bwari Area Council, FCT, has charged medical practitioners to maintain safety tips and tolerate their patients.
Dikko made the call on Tuesday when she visited general hospitals at Bwari and Kubwa.
She said that being tolerant and calm while dealing with patients was not only ethical, but would give room for trust between patients and doctors.
Dikko prayed to God to grant the medical team wisdom and knowledge to tackle deadly diseases and encouraged them to remain strong in their duties.
“I have interacted with some of the patients and they have good reports about how they are being treated in the hospitals; I sincerely thank the doctors for their effort.
“However, I must say in this times where the environment is being threatened by deadly diseases like Lassa fever, they must operate with caution and I pray God will continually shield them while in service,” she added.
Dikko explained that the visit was to show appreciation and encouragement to both the medical team and the patients on admission in the hospitals.
She also noted that it was important to share love with some of the patients in commemoration of St. Valentine Day on Feb. 14.
The Medical Director of Kubwa General Hospital, Dr Lasisi Muhideen, while speaking with newsmen described the gesture as worthy of emulation.
According to him, the demonstration of concern for the people, especially those in needs, goes a long way to show that one has the interest of his or her people at heart.
“This is important to us because the care of the sick is a partnership between parents, the doctors, government and the community leaders.
“She not only brought words of encouragement, but material gifts; we feel highly encouraged by this gesture,” Muhideen said.
One of the mothers of a patient at the Paediatric Ward, Mrs Faith Ayeleso, prayed for God’s divine increase in the life of Dikko.
Ayeleso, while appreciating Dikko’s efforts, urged leaders at all levels to put on and maintain the attitude of giving and care for those in need in their various communities.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that Dikko also visited some orphanages in the area, presenting food items and toiletries to children in the homes. (NAN)
