Technical education: Niger Govt. wants collaboration with poly

Minna, Nov. 27, 2017 (NAN) The Niger Government on Monday expressed readiness to partner with the Federal Polytechnic in Bida, to develop technical education in the state.

The state Deputy Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Ketso, stated this when management members of the polytechnic, led by the Rector, Dr Abubakar Dzukogi, visited him in Minna.

A statement by Hussaini Muhammad Enagi, the polytechnic’s Public Relations Officer, qureported the deputy governor as saying that the institution would play an active role in the overall development of the state.

“Technical and technological education, which are being offered in the polytechnic, are key to the development of the nation.

“We are of the strong opinion that your institution will play an active role in the overall development of this state.

“I, therefore, assure you, the Federal Polytechnic, Bida management, of Niger State Government’s readiness to welcome proposals of partnership in various fields of human endeavour from you,’’ Ketso said.

Earlier, Dzukogi said the visit to the Government House was to congratulate Gov. Abubakar Bello on his administration’s achievements in two years.

Dzukogi listed some of the governor’s achievements as prompt salary payment, construction of high quality road at Bangaie in Bida town and complete over-hauling and renovation of selected boarding schools across the state.

He said other achievements were youth employment drive and securing of Dangote Group of Companies to invest in agriculture in Niger State.

The rector thanked the governor for his government’s financial and moral support during the polytechnic’s convocation in 2016.

He commended the deputy governor, who is an alumnus of the institution, for spending three days in Bida to personally participate in the activities marking the convocation.

“Arrangements are on to hold convocation by March 2018 and to pay another courtesy visit to the governor to introduce members of the newly constituted Governing Council to him.’’(NAN)
