Lagos, Dec.8, 2016 (NAN) Sam Ikpea, a chairmanship aspirant, in Saturday’s Nigeria Football Supporters Club (NFSC) elections, on Thursday said that if elected, he would equally support local football clubs in their competitions.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the election is scheduled for Dec. 10 at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos.

Ikpea told NAN that his priority for the local clubs would further promote harmony among them in Nigeria Professional Football (NPFL) during their matches.

“It is unfortunate that states’ football clubs did not enjoy good support from the outgoing administration due to unforeseen circumstances, but the upcoming board will make it a priority.

“We will recognise them at the state levels; liaise with them so that the presence of the supporters club will be felt by their fans.

“We want to start supporting our footballers by cheering them during matches immediately I become the new chairman of NFSC,’’ Ikpea said.

Ikpea, who is the immediate past Secretary of NFSC, boasted of rich knowledge to take the club to greater height, while promising to restore the image of the club.

He added that his administration would ensure the restoration of peace and unity among members.

“I have the experience to bring positive changes to the club; I served the club credibly for 16 years from 2000 – 2008 as National Secretary and Secretary-General from 2008 – 2016.

“This upcoming board under my leadership will run an open door policy to accommodate persons with the same vision and good intentions for the club,’’ he said.

NAN reports that the immediate past board of NFSC were in office for eight years as against four as a result of crisis among members. (NAN)
