Minna, Nov. 1, 2017 (NAN) The Students Union Government (SUG) of the School of Health Technology, Minna, has called on the Niger Government to provide a permanent site for the accommodation of its teeming population.
Mr Yusuf Kutigi, the SUG president, made this call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna on Wednesday.
He said the campus environment could no longer accommodate the population due to the increasing number of students being admitted into the school yearly.
“My predecessors had made several appeals to the Niger Government but all seemed to have no effect.
“With a population of about 1, 500 students, the facilities on ground are over-stretched and this is not good for teaching and learning, especially in a health school.
”We have been calling on the Niger Government, different organisations and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO) to come to our aid but up till now, nothing has been done,” Kutigi said.
He further decried the decaying infrastructure in the school, saying that most of the books in the library had become obsolete and needed to be replaced with modern ones.
Mr Job Linus, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) said that the school needed intervention to help give it a face lift.
“Candidates are queuing for admission but most of them are being denied admission because of the school’s limited carrying capacity,” he said. (NAN)
