Student to receive 6 strokes of cane for joint act, criminal force

Abuja, Oct. 17, 2017 (NAN) A Karmo Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, on Tuesday ordered that an 18-year-old student, Mudassiru Ibrahim, be given six strokes of the cane for joint act, criminal force and causing grievous hurt.
Ibrahim of Angwa Hausawa, Karmo, had pleaded guilty to a three-count charge and begged for leniency.
The judge, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, gave the ordered after the convict pleaded guilty and begged the court to tamper justice with mercy.
Sadiq ordered Ibrahim to pay N10, 500 to the nominal complainant and warned the convict to desist from committing crime in future.
He said that the court might not be lenient with him the next time he appeared before it.
The Prosecutor, Mrs Florence Avhioboh, had told the court that the matter was reported by one Mustapha Ibrahim of Karmo, at the Karmo Police Station on Oct. 5.
The prosecutor said the convict while standing in front of his brother’s shop, hit the complainant on the shoulder with intent to fight him but people restrained him.
He later invited his friends, now at large, to beat the complainant, they inflicted injury on his mouth, he was taken to the hospital where he spent N10,500 for treatment.
Avhioboh said the offences contravened Sections 79, 265 and 247of the Penal Code. (NAN)
