Suleja (Niger), March 16, 2017 (NAN) The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Suleja Unit, Niger, has arrested 119 commercial drivers for failure to install the Speed Limiting Device on their vehicles.
The Unit Commander, Mr Olayinka Akande, made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Suleja.
Akande said that the commercial drivers were arrested during an operation.
He, however, said that 20 other drivers were found to have installed the device.
He said that the unit had sought the support of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in mobilising its members to adhere to the directive to install the device.
The commander said that installing the device would prevent road accidents.
He said that adequate personnel had been deployed to the Suleja-Kaduna Federal Highway to ensure compliance with traffic rules and regulations by motorists.
He advised motorists plying the road to avoid dangerous driving.
Akande also urged commercial motorcyclists in the area to always wear crash helmets while on the wheels.(NAN)
