Sokoto, Jan. 22, 2018 (NAN) Muhammad Ladan, Permanent Secretary in the Sokoto State Ministry of Youths and Sports Development, on Monday restated the state government’s commitment to improving sports at the grassroots level.
Ladan gave the assurance while addressing newsmen shortly after defending the ministry’s 2018 budget proposal before the State House of Assembly’s Committee on Youths and Sports Development in Sokoto.
“The government is highly committed to ensuring youths in the state enjoyed the full dividends of democracy.
“We will continue to improve on our target for youths and sports development. One of such efforts initiated is the move to have a feeder team for Sokoto United Football Club.
“Moreover, it is our expectation to ensure that all youth activities are improved and strengthened for the overall development of the state,” Ladan said.
Speaking also to newsmen, the Assembly’s Youths and Sports Development Committee Chairman, Ibrahim Gidado (APC-Sokoto South I), assured the state government of the legislative body’s support.
“The Assembly will continue to support the government in its bid to develop the youths,’’ he said.(NAN)
