Sokoto, Nov. 30, 2016 (NAN) The Commissioner of Police in Sokoto State, Mr Abdulkadir Muhammad, on Wednesday launched a campaign and distribution of the Nigerian Police re-branded Public Complaints Rapid Response Unit (PCRRU) flyers.

The PCRRU flyers were produced in English, Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba and Pidgin English.

The launch took place at the Sokoto Central Motor Park and same will be carried out by Divisional Police Officers in the 23 local government areas of the state.

Muhammad said the PCRRU was a unit in the police force charged with the responsibility of receiving and resolving complaints of police professional misconduct emanating from policing activities and operations nationwide.

“Therefore, this unit is always available to the members of the public, 24 hours daily, to listen and attend to all citizens’ complaints.

“Moreover, in line with the Change Agenda of the Federal Government of Nigeria and the “Change Begins With Me” campaign, the force under the leadership of IGP Ibrahim Idris is ensuring this accountability to Nigerians.

“This is by ensuring that all citizens and Nigerian residents have a unit through which all grievances against police actions and inaction are taken up and redressed,” he said.

The commissioner said that it was in this regard that the distribution of the PCRRU flyers was being carried out in the state.

“The police is always a friend and accessible to members of the public,” he said.

The chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers in the state, Malam Mode Rufai, commended the police commissioner for the gesture and for always being there for the people.(NAN)
