Jos, July 9, 2017(NAN) The Mavrodi Mondial Movement (MMM), a social organisation committed to assisting the poor, has donated furniture, bed-sheets and other items worth N1 million to Kingdom Kids Klub (KKK), a Jos-based orphanage.

The organisation, which donated the items on Sunday, also paid the June salaries of the 15 care-givers of the orphanage.

Ms Blessing Ojore, who led the MMM delegation, said that the gesture was to improve the lives of the children and part of the organisation’s efforts to help the under-privileged.

She urged those in privileged positions to remember the less fortunate ones so as to minimise their sufferings.

Mrs. Sandra Chikan, the Coordinator of the orphanage, who received the items, thanked the donors for the kindness, and described the gesture as “very exciting”.

She said that KKK was home to 54 children, and recalled that MMM had been of immense assistance to the orphanage over time.

“The organisation sponsored the renovation of our dining hall and provided new dining tables and 50 chairs.

“It also provided blankets, bed-sheets and has paid June salaries for 15 care-givers, who are often neglected during donations to the orphanage,’’ she said.

Chikan said that KKK was committed to mentoring and and supporting vulnerable children to offer them opportunities to explore their potentialities, and disclosed that the Home had outreaches in Barkin-Ladi and Riyom Local Governments.

NAN reports that the intervention is the second in 2017. In March, MMM donated N1 million that was used to set up a poultry which currently has 70 birds.

According to Chikan, part of the March donation went into purchasing sewing and cobbling machines with which some of the children had acquired skills to sew their clothes and produce their school sandals.

NAN reports that the children celebrated the donation with a special prayer for the donor group. (NAN)
