Benin, Jan. 11, 2017 (NAN) A sickle-cell patient, Mr Edigin Francis, has called on Edo State Government  to improve on its awareness campaign in both urban and rural areas to save more sickle-cell anaemia patients from taking wrong medication.

Francis told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Benin on Wednesday that, “ Most patients suffering from sickle-cell anaemia in the rural areas have been visiting quack doctors for treatment owing to lack of awareness..

“The present administration should come to the aid of all the sickle-cell patients across the state by providing logistics for awareness.

“Training of staff is also a key factor. I want the government to improve on it too,’’ Francis said.

He also enjoined patients already diagnosed with sickle-cell anemia to always make use of government-approved treatment facilities in order to save their lives.(NAN)
