Ile-Ife (Osun), June 27, 2018 (NAN) An Osun Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ile-Ife on Wednesday docked one Pius Adekunle, 75, over alleged breach of the peace.

The prosecutor, Insp. Emmanuel Abdullahi, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Monday at 11:30 a.m., at Aye-Coker Village, near Ile-Ife.

Abdullahi said the accused conducted himself in a manner that caused a breach of public peace when he started cursing and threatening to harm one Gbenga Ogunremi with charms.

According to him, the offence contravened Section 249 (d) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The defence counsel, Mr Adewale Adegbami, applied for bail for the accused on most liberal terms, pledging that his client would not jump bail.

“We are ready to produce reliable sureties,” he said.

Magistrate Olalekan Ijiyode granted the bail in the sum of N500, 000 with one surety in like sum.

Ijiyode added that the surety, who must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, must swear to an affidavit of means.

He, thereafter, adjourned the case until July 7 for hearing. (NAN)
