Enugu, Feb. 7, 2017 (NAN) No fewer than 10 projects have been attracted to the six local government areas in Abia Central by Sen. Theodore Orji.

the councils were Umuahia North, Umuahia South, Ikwuano, Isialangwa North, Isialangwa South and Osisoma.

The Media aide of the former governor, Mr Norman Obinna, made this known in statement in Enugu on Tuesday.

Obinna said that the move was in fulfillment of his  campaign promises.

He said that the projects, which were in line with the needs of the people were evenly spread, adding that work had since started on some of the project sites.

“Of the 10 constituency projects listed, work has started on a 33KVA line and installation of 300KVA, 33/0.415KV distribution substation at Amaku Nvosi in Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area of the state.

“There is also the ongoing construction of 3 numbers 300KVA, 11/0.415 substations at Umuhute Azueke community in Umuahia North Local Government Area as well as erosion control in two different sites,” he said.

Obinna gave the names of the two sites as Umueze Road and Umuakanu Road in Emede Ibeku, Umuahia North Local Government Area.

He said that other projects, including solar powered boreholes in Umuahia and Osisioma Local Government Areas of the state were in the offing, adding that the senator was abreast of the challenges of his constituents.

“These projects have shown that the era of neglect of one’s constituents by politicians is gone.

“We hope that the completion of these projects will go a long way in addressing infrastructural deficits in rural communities of Abia Central,” Obinna said.

He said that rural communities in his constituency would benefit from rural electrification projects which would be facilitated by Border Community Development Agency.

“Under this project no fewer than 20 transformers will distributed to rural communities in the six local government areas,” he said.

Obinna said that the Umuire-Udide-Umuodudu-Agbor Road in Emede Ibeku, Umuahia North Local Government Area, was also listed for rehabilitation.

“This is in fulfillment of Sen. Orji’s electoral promises to develop his constituency if elected and it is now time to repay the confidence of the people,” Obinna said. (NAN)
