By Sunday John
Akwanga (Nasarawa State), Dec. 27, 2016 (NAN) Sen. Philip Gyunka has called on Nigerians to embrace peace and love one another irrespective of their differences for the development of the country.
Gyunka, who is representing Nasarawa North Senatorial Zone at the National Assembly, made the call on Tuesday when he was addressing Newsmen in Akwanga, Nasarawa State.
According to him, no society can develope in an atmosphere of rancour, hence there is the need for people to tolerate one another’s ethnic background, religion and political affiliations.
He explained that this country was already going through a lot of problems, adding that all hands should be on deck to proffer a lasting solution to complement the efforts of government.
Gyunka advised political leaders and Nigerians at large to put the interest of the entire country over and above their personnel interests.
He attributed the cause of the problems confronting the country to selfishness and desperation to attain political positions.
According to him, some people will not mind killing their fellow human beings to achieve their inordinate ambition.
The senator said he would support every effort geared towards bringing the country out of the current recession.
Reacting to the recent policy of the Federal Government on ‘Whistle Blowing’, Gyunka advised that it should not be used to witch-hunt oppositions.
Gynka said that the Federal Government should be fair and just in its war against corruption. (NAN)
