Ilorin, April 5, 2018 (NAN) A three-day seminar for Nigerian football coaches, organised by the Kwara Chapter of Nigeria Football Coaches Association (NFCA) began in Ilorin on Thursday.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the seminar was organised in conjunction with M2YW Sports and Sports Coalition Nigeria.
In his welcome address, the Chairman of Kwara NFCA, Tunde Sanni, said the seminar was to help keep all football coaches up-to-date on new developments in modern football coaching.
“The world is not static, and football is changing in terms of rules, techniques and development. These are all evolving everyday and every moment,’’ he said.
Sanni, who is the Technical Adviser of ABS Football Club of Ilorin, said such changes prompted the association into keeping its members and other football-related individuals informed and updated.
“Time is changing and moving. Therefore, we need to move with time, because if one refuses to move with time, time will move without such a person.
“At the end of this programme, every participant would have gained a lot of knowledge and wisdom from our resource persons on various aspects of football techniques,’’ he said.
While declaring open the seminar, the Permanent Secretary of Kwara’s Ministry of Sports and Youth Development, Ayobola Samuel, advised the coaches to seek more knowledge on the game of football.
Represented by the State Director of Sports, Tunde Kazeem, Samuel assured the participants of the ministry’s support at all times.
NAN reports that the resource persons at the seminar include FIFA and CAF Instructor Emmanuel Obafemi.
Others are Gbenga Akinola, the Psychologist of Kwara United FC of Ilorin, and Bitrus Bewarang, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Technical Director.(NAN)
