 Security man bags 4 months imprisonment for defiling minor

Abuja, Jan. 29, 2018 (NAN) A Karmo Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, on Monday sentenced a 20-year-old security man, Yusuf Adamu, to four months imprisonment for defiling an 11-year-old girl.

Adamu, who resides at Sunshine Estate, Lungu, Gwarimpa Abuja, was convicted on a count charge of acts of gross indecency.

The judge, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, however gave him an option to pay N15, 000 fine.

He also said that the sentence would serve as a deterrent to other would be offenders.

The convict, who pleaded guilty to the charge, begged the court to temper justice with mercy, as he does not know what came over him.

The prosecutor, Florence Avhioboh, had told the court that one Mrs Daya Behora, of same address with the convict, reported the matter at the Gwarimpa Police Station on Jan. 22.

The complainant said on that same date, while returning from an outing, she discovered that the convict was harassing and forcing himself on her maid who is 11 years old.

She said during police investigation, the convict confessed to the crime that he forcefully had sexual intercourse with the victim in 2017.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 285 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
