Lagos, July 11, 2018 (NAN) A 20- year-old security guard, Malami Hassan, who allegedly stole his employer’s property valued at N715,000 was on Wednesday appeared in an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court.
The accused, who resides at No.5, Leye Pratt St., Isheri, Lagos, is being tried for burglary and stealing.
The prosecutor, Insp. Raji Akeem, told the court that the accused committed the offences between April and July 3 at No.5, Leye Pratt St., Isheri, Lagos.
Akeem said that sometime in April, the complainant, Mrs Bola Bamsa, discovered that her 600 pounds, equivalent to N315,000 was missing in her room and since then had been vigilance.
“On July 3, the complainant got home only to discover that her front door was burgled and on getting to the room, some items had been stolen.
“The items are:Gold jewellery, eye glasses, mobile phone, wrist watch and cash of N25,000, all valued at N715,000.
“She immediately reported the case at the police station and the accused was arrested,” he said.
The offences contravened Sections 287 and 307 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges and Chief Magistrate Mrs Jadesola Adeyemi-Ajayi granted him N250, 000 bail with two sureties in like sum.
Adeyemi-Ajayi adjourned the case until Aug. 14, for mention. (NAN)
