Lagos, Sept. 13,  2018 (NAN) A 27-year-old security guard, Mohammed Mala, who allegedly stole three cartons of aluminum chips worth N120,000 belonging to  his employer, was on Thursday arraigned in Tinubu Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.

The Prosecutor, Sgt. Hafsat Ajibode, told the court that the accused committed the offences on Aug. 27 at 6.a.m. at No. 3, Oba Elegushi St., Ikoyi Lagos.

She said the accused, a security guard, conspired with one other at large, to steal three cartons of aluminum chips belonging to his employer, Arbico Nigeria Ltd.

“When the items were discovered missing, the company’s management started investigating and the CCTV footage was played.

“The accused was caught on CCTV in the early hours of the morning where he was carrying cartons of aluminum chips to his accomplice, who drove away with them on a motorcycle,’’ Ajibode said.

The offences contravened Sections 287 (7) and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised), which stipulate seven years and two years imprisonment respectively for offenders.

The accused, who is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and theft, pleaded not guilty.

Mala was, however, granted N100,000 bail with one surety in like sum.

He adjourned the case until Oct. 4 for mention. (NAN)
