Security guard bags 1 year imprisonment for having carnal knowledge of minor

Minna, Aug. 10, 2017 (NAN) A Minna Magistrates’ Court on Thursday sentenced a 25-year-old security guard, Abu Ajayi, to one year imprisonment for having carnal knowledge of a minor.
The defendant was arraigned on a two- count charge of abduction and unlawful sexual intercourse with a child.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Emmanuel Danladi, told the court that one Titus Ukakele of Railway Quarters, Minna, reported the matter on July 25 at the police station.
Danladi said the complainant had alleged that the defendant abducted his 14-year-old daughter from their shop on July 24 at about 6 p.m.
The prosecutor said that the defendant was alleged to have lured the girl into his room and had sexual intercourse with her on two different occasions.
According to him, the offences contravened Sections 273 and 18 (2) of the Child Rights Law of Niger State, 2010.
The defendant pleaded guilty and begged the court for leniency.
The prosecutor prayed the court to try the defendant summarily in line with Section 157 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
Magistrate Mariam Kings, sentenced Ajayi to six months imprisonment on each count.
He, however, gave him N50,000 option of fine on each count. (NAN)
