Security guard, 32, docked for allegedly stealing employer’s N11,500

Lagos, Aug. 23, 2017 (NAN) A 32-year-old security guard, Akpan Paul, on Wednesday appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’
Court, charged with stealing his employer’s N11,500 diesel money.

Paul, who resides in Agege area of Lagos, is facing a charge of stealing.

According to the Prosecutor, Insp. Victor Eruada, the accused committed the offence on July 18 at Superslot Nigeria Ltd located
on old Ipaja Road, Agege.

He said the accused stole  N11, 500 given to him by the company to buy diesel.

“Instead of buying the diesel, he converted the money to personal use.”

The offence contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the section prescribes three years imprisonment for offenders.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, Mrs G.O. Anifowoshe, in her ruling, granted the accused N10, 000 bail with one surety in like amount.

Anifowoshe said the surety, who should be a blood relation of the accused, should also show evidence of three years tax
payment to the Lagos State Government.

She adjourned the case until Aug. 30 for mention. (NAN)
