Security guard,19, docked for stealing employer’s sack of slippers worth N150, 000

Lagos,  April 26, 2017 (NAN) A security guard, Rafat Adamu, who allegedly stole his employer’s sack of rubber slippers valued at N150,000, was on Wednesday brought before a Tinubu Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.

 

Adamu, 19, whose address was not given, is facing a charge of stealing.

 

The prosecutor, ASP Richard Odigie, said that the accused committed the offence on April 21, at about 11:30p.m., at Iranlowo Storehouse, Martins Street, Lagos Island.

 

He said that the accused, who was employed by Mrs Tope Animashaun to guard her storehouse, broke into one of the rooms and stole the sack of slippers.

 

“He was caught by some neighbours when he was about to leave his security post in the morning,’’ he said.

 

The offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

 

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 285 prescribes a three–year jail term for offenders.

 

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.

 

Magistrate F.O Ikobayo granted the accused bail in the sum of 100,000 with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case until May 5 for mention. (NAN)
