Kano, March 8, 2018 (NAN)The Office of Senior Special Assistant to the President on SDGs has called on Conditional Grant Scheme Focal Persons to do the needful by giving updates on their needs assessment, to ensure prompt release of funds.
The SSA to the President on SDGs, Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, made the call while addressing the 36 Conditional Grant Scheme Focal Persons at a meeting held in Kano on Thursday.
According to her, giving updates on the needs assessment of states would facilitate the prompt release of funds for the implementation of the Conditional Grant Scheme (CGS) projects.
She said the office had articulated a report on the National Voluntary Reviews on the SDGs 2017.
Orelope-Adefulire called for a follow-up mechanism by the United Nations to accelerate the implementation of the 2030 agenda by galvanising partnership and commitments from key prayers to collectively speed up progress on the SDGs.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the SSA was represented at the meeting by the Head of Conditional Grant Scheme (CGS), Mrs Olufunlola Modupe-Olaopo.
“This was presented at the last session of the United Nations General Assembly in September 2017 as a publication titled “Implementation of the SDGs: A National Voluntary Review,’’ she said.
Orelope-Adefulire commended various states for executing the CGS projects in view of their impacts on the populace.
“Permit me to state that my sensitisation visits to some states were very enlightening. I visited CGS projects in the course of my advocacy trips to some states.
“A lot of the impacts of the Projects to the populace were heartwarming. However, the quality of the execution of some these projects left a lot to be desired,” she said.
“The needs assessment should be done annually so that we will be able to advise the management on what you need,” Orelope-Adefulire added. (NAN)
