Schools resume in Oyo State after 6 weeks holiday

Ibadan, Sept. 19, 2016 (NAN) Government and private schools in Oyo State on Monday resumed for the 2016/2017 academic session after a six-week holiday.

A News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) correspondent, who went round the state capital, reports that students were seen in their various school uniforms as early as seven o’clock.

Some of them were dropped by their parents and guardians at the school gates.

The usual light traffic was not the case as traffic gridlocked was witnessed in some major parts of the metropolis because of the resumption of schools.

Some of the schools visited, includes Baptist Secondary School, Oke Ado; Oluyole High School, Ring Road; and People’s Basic Primary School, Adeoyo.

The others were St. Louis Grammar School, Mokola; Ansarudeen Grammar School, Liberty Road; St. Annes, Molete; and the Vine Schools, new Adeoyo, Ibadan.

NAN reports that the students were seen cleaning their classrooms and surroundings in readiness for learning, while others were cleaned by the administrative office who resumed a week earlier.
Two of the students, Olatunji Fadoju and Lilian Ezechi, who spoke with NAN, expressed joy on their resumption.

Some other students said they were happy to be in a new class.

Meanwhile one of the school head teacher, who did not want his name mentioned, expressed satisfaction on the students’ attendance.

The Head of the Vine Schools, Mrs Abiodun Philips, admonished the students to be diligent in their studies and be well behaved. (NAN)
