Lagos, Jan. 11, 2017 (NAN) A 55-year-old security guard, Joseph Oluwagbemiro, who allegedly stole tiles worth N1.6 million belonging to his employer, was on Wednesday brought before a Tinubu Magistrates’ Court on Lagos Island.
The accused, whose address is unknown, pleaded not guilty to the charge of theft.
But the prosecutor, Insp. Philip Osijiale, told the court that the accused had on Nov. 27, 2016 at about 7.00 p.m. committed the offence at Debiruss School, Olokonla, Ajah, Lagos.
Osijiale said the accused stole the tiles property of his employer (name withheld).
“The accused, who was employed as a security guard in the school, stole the tiles, collected his November salary and disappeared.
“Olugbemiro was later apprehended at Awoyaya in Ibeju-Lekki Council Area,’’ he said.
The offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The Magistrate, Mr Kazeem Omolaja, granted the accused bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case to Jan. 16 for hearing. (NAN)
