Scavenger in court over alleged theft of cell phone

Abuja, Feb. 21, 2018 (NAN) A 40-year-old man, Mr Saheed Kuti, was on Tuesday arraigned in a Wuse Zone 2 Magistrates’ Court , Abuja, for allegedly stealing a cell phone.
The prosecuting counsel, Mr Adeniyi Oyeyemi , told the court that the defendant stole a Samsung tablet e-mobile cell phone, belonging to one Usman Mohammed of Lagos House, Central Business District, Abuja.
The prosecutor told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Feb. 6 at about 11.30a.m.
He said that the phone was tracked by the police and found in the custody of the middle aged scavenger .
He said the offence contravened Section 287 of the Penal Code.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty.
The Magistrate, Mr Musa Ibrahim Jobo, granted the accused bail in the sum of N200, 000 and a surety in like sum.
He adjourned the case until March 22,for further hearing. (NAN)
