Scavenger bags 6 months imprisonment for criminal trespass

Abuja, Oct. 19, 2017 (NAN) A Karmo Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, on Thursday sentenced a 22-year-old scavenger, Abdullahi Usman, to six months imprisonment for criminal trespass and theft.
The judge, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, said that the sentence would serve as deterrent to other would be offenders.
Usman, who resides at Karmo village, was convicted on a two-count charge.
The convict, who pleaded guilty to the charge, begged the court to temper justice with mercy.
The Prosecutor, Florence Avhioboh, had told the court that a team of crime prevention patrol team arrested the convict on Oct.13, along Life Camp, Abuja, with aluminum window glass.
She said during police investigation the convict confessed that he stole them from a building under construction.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened the provisions of Sections 348 and 288 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
