Port Harcourt, March 15, 2018 (NAN) The Commander of Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in Rivers, ACP Akin Fakorede, has restated the commitment of the squad toward ensuring effective crime policing in the state.

Fakorede said in an interview with newsmen in Port Harcourt on Thursday that SARS had made tremendous breakthroughs in crime policing in the state.

He said that the squad remained focused and impartial in the discharge of its activities, to ensure operational thoroughness and efficiency.

He said that no amount of smear campaign or blackmail would deter him and his team from undertaking their responsibilities, without fear or favour.

Fakorede urged Rivers people to avail SARS of information capable of exposing crime, adding:“we are prepared to be proactive at all times.

“As a team, the cooperation of members of the public is very important; we need that synergy with the people.

“Part of the breakthroughs we have made came through partnership with the civil populace; we need to strengthen this cooperation,’’ he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Fakorede was recently elevated to the position of Assistant Commissioner of Police. (NAN)
