Sallah: Lawmakers, others task Nigerians on national unity

Ibadan, Aug. 20, 2018(NAN) Some National Assembly members have called on Nigerians to remain committed to the unity and progress of the country.

The lawmakers made the call in  separate Sallah messages made available to the News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) in Ibadan.

Sen. Abdulfatai Buhari(APC-Oyo North) urged Nigerians to be honest and remain committed to the progress of the nation.

Buhari, who is the Chairman of the  Senate Committee on ICT and Cybercrime, said the myriad of  problems militating against the country’s growth  would  only be solved if the people remained dedicated to the Nigerian  project

“Obviously,  we need God’s intervention, but we also need to demonstrate our readiness to move Nigeria forward.

“ Nigeria is a project that must not fail and this can only be achieved with our hard work, dedication and prayer,” he said.

He congratulated Muslims on the occasion of the Eid-el- Kabir celebration and reaffirmed his continuous  commitment to the development of his constituency.

Rep.  Abiodun Olasupo(ADC-Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa)  urged Muslims to pray fervently for the progress and unity of Nigeria as well as its leaders.

Olasupo, who is the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Legislative Compliance, also called on the people to be faithful to God and be steadfast in faith.

He urged them to imbibe the lessons of sacrifice, faith and total obedience to the will of God as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim.

Also speaking, Prof.  Gbemiga Adewale, the Provost of  Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology,  Igboora, felicitated with Muslims across the world on the occasion of the Sallah celebration.

Adewale,  in a statement, called on  Muslims to continue demonstrating faith and love as exhibited by Prophet  Ibrahim.

He admonished them not to relent in their prayers for the nation. (NAN)
