Lagos, March 13, 2017 (NAN) A 38-year-old sales representative, Modupe Shonde, who allegedly stole1000 loaves of bread valued at N210,000 on Monday appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
Shonde, who resides along Eru- Elepe Street in Ikorodu, Lagos, is facing a charge of stealing.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Joseph Ajebe, told the court that the accused committed the offence in January at No. 2, Jagal Close, Ikosi Road, Oregun, Ikeja, Lagos.
Ajebe said the accused worked in a confectionery where she collected the loaves and failed to deliver them to a customer that requested for them.
“She sold the bread and converted the money to her own use, instead of remitting it into the company’s account.
“She claimed she used the money for her mother’s hospital bill,’’ the prosecutor said.
The offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Alexander Komolafe, granted the accused N50, 000 bail with two sureties in like sum.
Komolafe directed that the sureties must be a worker and should show evidence of tax payments to Lagos State Government.
The case was adjourned to March 17 for trial. (NAN)
