Sales representative docked over alleged N1.6m fraud

Lagos, Jan. 18, 2017(NAN) A 44-year-old sales representative, Emmanuel Dogo, was on Wednesday arraigned in an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly defrauding his employer of over N1.6 million.

 

The accused who resides at 7, Kamaki St., Ajangbadi, Okokomaiko area, a  suburb of Lagos is being tried for fraud and stealing.

The prosecutor, Insp. Rita Momoh told the court that the offences were committed between October and December 2016, at Unique Pharmaceutical Company, located at Fatai Atere Street Mushin, Lagos.

Momoh said that the accused failed to remit the proceeds of sales into the company’s account.

“It was when one of their customers came and told the company that she had paid for her goods that they got to know about the accused fraudulent act.

“The total amount of money that was stolen was N1.660, 584, property of Unique Pharmaceutical Company,” she said.
The offences contravened Sections 285 and 312 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.

The Magistrate, Mr M. K. O. Fadeyi granted the accused bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

He adjourned the case till Jan. 30 for mention. (NAN)
