Ikeja, July 5, 2018 (NAN) A 31-year-old sales representative, Adetayo Owololu, who allegedly stole her employer’s N600, 000, was on Thursday charged before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.

Owololu, who resides at 83 Delly St., Obawole Ogba, Lagos, is being tried for stealing.

The prosecutor, Insp. Raji Akeem, told the court that the accused committed the offence on June 15 at No.1 Temple St., Ijaiye.

Akeem said that the accused stole the money from the complainant, Mrs Abimbola Oluwafemi’s handbag.

“The accused stole the N600, 000 when the complainant stepped out of the shop.

“When the complainant got home and noticed that the money was missing she called the accused who said she knew nothing about the money,” he said.

Akeem said that the case was reported to the police and the accused was subsequently arrested.

The offence contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Section stipulates a seven-year jail term for offenders upon conviction.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

In her ruling, the Magistrate, Mrs I.A. Abina, granted the accused bail of N400, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

Abina adjourned the case until July 23 for mention. (NAN)
