Lagos, Dec. 13, 2017 (NAN) A Sales Manager, Friday Osuagwu, was on Wednesday charged before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly defrauding a company of over N12 million.

Osuagwu, 33, who resides at No. 11, Niyi Adedeji St., Ogudu, Lagos, is being tried for conspiracy, stealing and fraud.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Raji Akeem, told the court that the offences were committed between January, 2012 to August, 2017 at Global Plus Publishing Ltd., Oregun, Ikeja.

Akeem said that Osuagwu in June this year, failed to remit N750, 000, being proceeds from sales to the company.

“In view of this, an external auditor was invited to audit the company’s account from 2012 and they discovered that N12.117 million was not remitted to the company.

“The accused, who has been the company’s sales manager, was invited for questioning and since he could not account for the money, he was handed over to the police,’’ the prosecutor said.

The offences contravened Sections 287, 335 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr T. O. Shomade, granted the accused bail in the sum of N12 million with two sureties in like sum.

He adjourned the case until Dec. 20 for mention. (NAN)
