Lagos, March 6, 2017 (NAN) Sagamu-based Remo Stars gaffer, Fatai Osho, said on Monday that the league debutants’ Match Day 12 of the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL)  0-1 loss to MFM FC was not as a result of pressure.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the  Southwestern derby played on Sunday at the soccer temple, Agege Township Stadium, was the first league encounter between the two clubs.

The game was decided through a penalty by MFM’s sensational striker, Stephen Odey, in the 14th minute of play after he was brought down by Remo’s Wale David inside the 18-yard box.

Remo Stars were more aggressive in front of goal and from the start of the whistle and was almost rewarded in the 9th minute when Jamilu Coker tested MFM’s goal keeper, Ospino Egbe.

MFM’s Sikiru Olatunbosun wasted a clear chance when he shot wide in the 20th minutes. He was also denied a goal- bound shot by Remo’ goalkeeper, Chizoba Ndukwe at the closing minutes of the game.

Reacting to the outcome of the match, Osho said the result of the game was not a reflection of what happened on the field of play.

“Nothing spectacular went wrong in today’s game, we came with a lot of expectations and we could have got something better.

“MFM won, we have to give it to them because they did their best to win.

“I must also be honest with you that the result was not actually a reflection of what happened on the field of play as a draw could have been better.

“We are a team in transit, we cannot shy away from that but I can assure you that as we go on, we will definitely get better,’’ he told sports journalists in a post-match conference.

However, MFM’s Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu told NAN that the victory against Remo was a result of hard work on the part of the players.

“I need to give it to the players for their exceptional display. The visitors came knocking with determination, but MFM players showed more resilience.

“The players earned the victory through hard work, so kudos to them.’’  (NAN)
