Benin, May 18, 2018 (NAN) A former Commissioner in Edo, Mr Denise Idahosa, has enjoined Muslim faithful to use the period of the Ramadan fast to pray for those in leadership positions across the country.

Idahosa, a chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC), made the call in a statement issued by his spokesman, Mr Friday Akhedo, and made available to newsmen in Benin on Thursday.

He said prayers had become imperative so that the leaders could lead the nation aright as enshrined in the national anthem.

He stressed that the leaders needed spiritual support from the citizenry considering the numerous challenges confronting the nation.

The commissioner enjoined Muslims to use the holy month of Ramadan to devote themselves to studying the verses of the holy Quran and demonstrating the qualities of Prophet Mohammed in their everyday lives.

“Muslims and non-Muslims alike should imbibe the spirit of love, alms giving, selflessness and togetherness, to ensure peaceful co-existence and unity regardless of religious, ethnic, social and economic differences.

“I wish to congratulate our Muslim brothers and sisters on yet another Ramadan; it is a special period for blessings and sober reflection.

“We should use this period to offer special prayers for the nation and those in authority.”

Idahosa wished all Muslim faithful a fulfilling Ramadan and prays that Almighty Allah accept all their supplications in this holy month.(NAN)
