Abuja, March 13, 2017 (NAN) African Arts and Cultural Heritage Association (AACHA), says it has concluded plans to hold a cultural carnival in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja in April.

The AACHA President, Chief Kanayo Chukwuemizie, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Abuja.

“We are planning to do a cultural festival; we are going to make it a big cultural event in Abuja; we are planning toward April this year.

“We want to exhibit and showcase rich Nigerian cultures and crafts from different tribes; we are inviting all the foreign embassies in the country.

“The Cultural Carnival will involve events like cultural dances, exhibitions, cultural food fair and so many cultural activities from different parts of the country and other groups from other countries.

“We want to show the world that private sector can organise better cultural carnival and can do better without much expenditure.

“This will not be like other carnivals that so much money will be spent on and nobody will know what is happening,’’ Chukwuemezie said.

Chukwuemezie said that government was not expected to organise cultural carnival, stressing that it could only give support and provide an enabling environment for private sector to drive it.

According to him, the sector can better organise carnival that will attract millions of visitors and tourists from other parts of the world to Abuja.

He maintained that carnival organise by the private sector had the capacity to generate huge revenue for the country. (NAN)
