Private school in Ibadan donates books to public school

Ibadan, Feb. 17, 2017 (NAN) As part of activities marking its 30th anniversary, a private school in Ibadan,  The Vine Schools,   on Friday donated books and other learning  materials to a public primary school.

The Executive Director of the schools, Mrs Abiodun Philips, said that the gesture was to give back to the society after the institution has had  a  fulfilled 30 years of existence.

“It is a way for the institution to give  back to  a community that has supported us;  although we are a  private institution, we are all  bound as one in the education sector.,’’ she said.

She called on philanthropists   and other well meaning individuals  to complement government’s efforts by assisting public schools in the areas of  books and learning materials .

The headmistress of the benefitting People’s Primary School on Ring Road, Ibadan,  Mrs Janet Jaiyeola, expressed  joy at the gesture.

Jaiyeola said that the gesture would go a long way in assisting pupils who could not  afford to buy some of the books donated.

“We are very much happy with this gesture and we pray that the schools  will continue to grow and accomplish  the mission they have set for themselves.

“The Vine Schools have done what Jesus instructed  us to do;  to care for others  and we in the people’s schools appreciate  this  gesture,” she said.(NAN)
