Ile-Ife (Osun), Jan 8, 2018 (NAN) Mrs Abiola Akinbobola, Principal, Anglican Central Government Middle School, Ilare, Ile-Ife, has urged students to shun cultism, drug abuse and other vices that can endanger their lives.

Akinbobola gave the advice during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Ile-Ife.

She urged the students to make judicious use of the knowledge their teachers were impacting on them to enable them become better individuals.

The principal encouraged them to bring out the best in them, and stressed the need for hard work which could lead to success.

Akinbobola appealed to teachers to always encourage the weaker students in their classes to buckle up and assist them in whichever way they could instead of bullying them.

Mr John Agbeluyi, the Headmaster, St. Peter’s Government Elementary School, Sabo, Ile-Ife, charged parents to start early to teach their children correct morals.

Agbeluyi counselled the parents to invest their best in the training of their wards, saying they were their hope in their old age.

He said the present administration was trying its best in providing for the needs of the students and urged them to make use of the opportunity in achieving greatness in life.

The expert tasked pupils to read good books that would enable them achieve greatness and frowned at the attitude of some students who indulged in the get-rich-quick syndrome.

“Prostitution, selling of hard drugs and examination malpractice are part of the get-rich-quick syndrome that can ruin your lives and I urge you to retrace your steps.’’

Agbeluyi warned them against bad company, saying “bad company corrupts good manner,’’ he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the school vacated for the 2016/2017 academic session on Dec. 15, 2017 and resumed for the 2017/2018 academic session on Jan. 8. (NAN)
