Damaturu, Aug. 28, 2018 (NAN) The Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Yobe, has appealed to political parties, aspirants and youths to shun violence during party primaries in the state.
Alhaji Umar Kukuri, IPAC Chairman in the state, made the call on Tuesday in Damaturu in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
He said the state could not afford to have any other threat to peace and security after the protracted security challenge suffered by the state.
“I wish to appeal to all political parties to observe fairness, rule of law and internal democracy while aspirants should embrace the spirit of sportsmanship in the outcome of the primaries,’’ Kukuri said.
The chairman appealed to parents to monitor their wards against being used as political bandits.
“We all have stakes in the peace and security of the state and the need to support government efforts in improving the security situation of the state,’’ he said.
Kukuri commended the state government for investing hugely in security to ensure safety and protection of lives and property in the state.
“The security operatives have achieved so much in the state and need not to be belaboured with additional challenges,’’ the chairman said.
He said the state government’s achievements in social services especially healthcare delivery were commendable.
“You do not have to be in the same political party with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) government to appreciate its efforts in bringing qualitative healthcare delivery to the doorstep of the people.
“We are in politics essentially to promote good governance and improve the lives of the people.
“We will support to improve the lives of our people and criticize constructively when it derails to give voice to the people,’’ he said. (NAN)
