Police in Osun arraign man for alleged fraud

Modakeke (Osun), Dec. 6, 2016 (NAN) The Police in Osun on Tuesday arraigned one Olakunle Oladele, 34, before a Modakeke Magistrates` Court for alleged fraud.

The Prosecutor, Sgt. Ona Glory, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Oct. 2 at Urban-Day Area, Modakeke.

Glory said the accused collected N70, 000 from one Olorunsogo IfeOluwa, with intent to supply him a cow but failed to do so.

He said that the offence was contrary to section 383 and punishable under sections 390 (9) and 419 of the Criminal Code Cap 34, Vol. 11, Laws of Osun, 2003.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the offence.

The Defence Counsel, Mr Victor Arojo, applied for bail for his client on liberal terms and promised that his client would not jump bail.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs Bose Awosan, granted the accused bail in the sum of N30, 000 with one surety in like sum.

Awosan ordered that the surety must swear to affidavit of means and be a close relative of the accused.

She also ordered that the surety must deposit two recent passport-size photographs with the court and adjourned the case till Dec. 21 for hearing. (NAN)
