Dutse, Feb. 20, 2018 (NAN) The Police in Jigawa have arrested a 25-year-old man over alleged child abduction and motorcycle theft.

Police Spokesman in the state, SP Abdu Jinjiri, confirmed the arrested in Dutse on Tuesday.

Jinjir said the suspect, a resident of Maigatari town, was arrested in Babura Local Government Area after he allegedly abducted a five-year-old child in Gumel town, Gumel Local Government Area.

He added that the suspect, who specialised in abducting children, allegedly used them to deceive and steal motorcycles from unsuspecting commercial motorcyclists.

The spokesman explained the suspect usually left the children he abducted with the motorcyclists and collected their motorcyclists under the pretext he was going to pick something or someone nearby.

“That is how the suspect usually operates leaving the children in the hands of the unsuspecting motorcyclists without returning.

“So, based on a tip-off from the Gumel Police Division, our men in Babura town arrested the 25-year-old suspect after he abducted a five-year-old child from Gumel local government area.

“The suspect confessed that he uses the little children to deceive motorcyclists and take away their motorcycles,”the spokesman said.

According to him, the suspect has mentioned one Danladi in Bauchi State as the receiver of the motorcycles he stole.

Jinjiri said investigation into the case was ongoing, after which the suspect would be charged to court. (NAN)
