Ile-Ife (Osun) Dec. 23, 2016 (NAN) The police on Friday arraigned three accused persons, Seun Abodunde, 25; Ojo Oyeniyi, 18; and Raphael Adebisi, 20, before a Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ile-Ife over breach of peace and assault.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Monday Ojiezele, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Dec. 17 around 2 p.m. at Odo Omo Area, Ipetumodu, Ife North Local Government Area of Osun.
Ojiezele alleged that the accused conspired together to commit felony to wit: assault occasioning harm, threatening of life, and caused the breach of peace in the environment.
He said that the accused assaulted one Temitope Olayinka with cutlasses, broken bottles and knives, inflicting him with injuries on his head and fingers.
“The accused maliciously damaged two wooden windows attached to a building, valued N20, 000, property of Olayinka, and also threatened his life,” he said.
The prosecutor said that the offences were contrary to Sections 249 (9), 355, 451and 561A (1) of the Criminal Code Cap 34, Vol 11 Laws of Osun, 2002.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled against them.
The defence counsel, Mr J.O. Amole, urged the court to grant his clients bail in most liberal terms, pledging that they would show up for trial.
The Magistrate, Mr Olalekan Ijiyode, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000 each, with one surety each in like sum.
Ijiyode said that the sureties must swear to an affidavit of means and must reside within the court’s jurisdiction.
He said that they must be state civil servants of any grade level and should produce two recent passport photographs.
Thereafter, he adjourned the case to Jan. 10 for mention. (NAN)
