Police arraign security man for alleged theft

Lagos, Aug. 9, 2017 (NAN) The Police on Wednesday arraigned a 35-year-old security man, Olaiya Job,  in an Ikeja Magistrates’  Court in Lagos for alleged theft of  N40,000.

The Prosecutor, Sgt. Ishola Samuel, told the court that the accused  had withdrawn the sum from an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) using a card  he  stole.

Samuel alleged  that the accused stole the ATM card from  the bag of the wife of  one  Mark Daniel who was the complainant.

According to the prosecutor, the complainant had  asked the accused to get the bag from his car.

“The accused person also stole three  bags of cement, one  gallon of paint , a baby walker and four  DVD player,  all valued at N8,700 and belonging to the complainant,’’ he said.

Samuel said Job committed the offence on July 27 at Giggles Montessori School located at Gowon Estate, Egbeda.

He said the offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015,  which stipulates a three-year jail term for offenders.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, Miss A.R. Onilogbo, admitted the accused to bail in the sum of  N50, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

Onilogbo said the sureties must be gainfully employed and must show evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

The case was adjourned till  Aug. 16 for mention. (NAN)
