Police arraign man for alleged stealing

Abuja, Jan. 18, 2018 (NAN) The police,  on Thursday, arraigned one Maxwell Chudi, 23, before a Karmo Grade I Area Court in the FCT for allegedly stealing of items valued N225,000 and 93,000 cash.

The defendant, who resides at Jabi Abuja, is standing trial on a two-count charge of trespass and theft levelled against him.

The Police Prosecutor, Zannah Dalhatu, told the court that one Bilyaminu Abdullahi, also of the same address as the accused person, reported the matter to the Life Camp Police Station, Abuja, on Jan. 12.

“The complainant said that on Jan. 11, he, the defendant, allegedly came to his room while he was sleeping and stole one Omatek laptop valued N180, 000, his girlfriend’s jewelries valued N45, 000 and N93, 000 cash,’’ he said.

He said the accused during police investigation, confessed to have given the laptop to one Usman Mohammed of the same address.

Dalhatu said that the offences contravened Sections 348 and 288 of the Penal Code.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The judge, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, granted the defendant N100, 000 bail with one surety in like amount and adjourned the case until Feb. 12, for hearing. (NAN)
