Police arraign 2 for allegedly defrauding woman of N4m

Abuja, Jan. 9, 2018 (NAN) The Police in Abuja on Tuesday arraigned two men at the FCT High Court in  Wuse for allegedly defrauding a woman of  N4million.

The accused–Amos Nongo  and Victor Musa– were arraigned before Justice Mamman Kolo.

The Prosecuting Counsel, Mr Friday Bassey, said one Mrs Lilian Buba of Garki, Abuja, had on Dec. 4, 2017 petitioned the Deputy Inspector General of Police, accusing the duo of the alleged fraud.

Bassey  told the court that the accused  and others at large had conspired to defraud the complainant in May 2017.

The prosecutor alleged that the accused  fraudulently obtained N4million from the complainant on  the pretext that they would use their positions to facilitate the purchase of some vehicles.

He also said that the accused  promised to pay the complainant back in  three months with interest  which they failed to do.

Bassey said that the offence was contrary to Sections 8(a), 1(1)(a) and 8(9) and punishable under Sections 1(3) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Related Offences Act of 2006.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.

Justice Kolo, who  adjourned the case till Jan. 17 for ruling on bail application,  ordered that the accused   be remanded in prison. (NAN)
