Minna, April 3, 2017 ( NAN) The Police Command in Niger on Monday advised residents of the state to be security conscious in markets, motor parks and other public places.
Mr Muazu Zubairu, the Commissioner of Police in the state, made the call while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna.
Zubairu said that already the command had reached out to the eminent Peoples Forum, traditional and religious leaders and stakeholders in mobilising residents to be security conscious.
Zubairu said that the advice became necessary in view of the present security challenges in the country.
“Already the command has taken proactive security measures that will strengthen security situation in and outside the metropolis.
“Residents should be mindful of strangers especially in public places against any potential security threats.
“Plain security personnel have since been deployed to all public places to ensure the protection of lives and property.
“This command will intensify its community policing to enable residents to offer intelligence reports on happenings around their environment to the police for prompt action,’’ he said.
The commissioner also called on officers and men of the command to continue to put in their best, as the hard working ones among them would be rewarded. (NAN)
