Abuja, May 9, 2017 (NAN) The police on Tuesday arraigned Hassan Sadiq, a phone repairer in a Wuse Zone 2 Senior Magistrates’ Court for stealing a HP laptop.
Sadiq, of no fix address, is standing trial of a three-count charge of joint-act, criminal trespass and theft.
The Prosecutor, Otu Urom, told the court that the defendant was reported at the Wuse Police Station by Ajuji Musa of Misturata Street, Wuse 2, Abuja, on April 29.
Urom said the defendant and another person now at large committed the offence on April 29.
He added that Sadiq, in company of another, entered into the complainant’s compound, accessed his bedroom and stole the HP laptop.
The prosecutor also said that only Sadiq was caught as he attempted to cart away the laptop while his accomplice escaped.
He explained that the offence contravened sections 79, 348 and 287 of the Penal Code.
However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges against him and the Magistrate, Mohammed Tahir, granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 and one surety in like sum.
Tahir also said that the surety must reside within the jurisdiction of the court and adjourned the case till June 5 for hearing. (NAN)
